PoPO

Po Zhang (also known as PoPo) is a world-renowned tattoo artist celebrated for his mastery of photo-realistic and Asian traditional tattoo styles. Born in Tianjin, China, Po’s artistic journey began at the prestigious Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied classical painting and body art. His natural talent and relentless curiosity led him from oil painting and body painting to the intricate world of tattooing—a medium through which he found his truest form of expression.

Starting his career at just 17, Po initially practiced traditional hand-poked tattooing before refining his skill with machine work. In 2003, he opened his first studio in China, Wen Suo Wei Wen (“PoPo Tattoo Studio”), which quickly became known for its innovation and artistry. When Po later brought his craft to the United States, he became a resident artist at Tattoo Lou’s in Long Island, New York—earning immense respect and a devoted following of clients who often wait months for a session with him.

As the founder and creative force behind NYPO.art, Po has become a pillar of both American and international tattoo culture. His work—recognized by global brands like World Famous Tattoo Ink and Kuro Sumi—merges East Asian artistic philosophy with Western technical precision. This fusion has influenced a new generation of tattoo artists around the world, expanding the boundaries of what tattooing can achieve as fine art.
